We need acid to digest our food but, do not strike a balance that is good for digestion by eating too many acidifying foods, such as processed sugar, meats, dairy products, coffee, alcohol, refined oils, canned processed food etc which produce acidic ash as digestive by product in the body. These acids can overload the body’s ability to neutralize them.

Acids are extremely aggressive and attack & destroy body tissue, given half a chance. While stomach is busy producing hydrochloric acid it also produces an antidote a bicarbonate rich solution that coats the mucous membrane lining. But when the acid alkaline balance tips it leads to "chronic low grade metabolic acidosis". Unless we take steps to neutralise these acids, they pose serious threat to our health. Prolong acidosis eventually leads to long trem depletion of calcium and other minerals(Mg) from our bones which leads to muscle, joint and calf pains, heart ailments and various metabolic disorders, accelerating aging process and impacting overall mobility. Acids are weak as well as strong , weak acids, such as citric are much easier for the body to neutralize than strong acids, such as uric acid.
